The OLD SOUL of Hanoi Blues Note

Quỳnh Phạm

THE JAZZ LADY

Refined. Free-spirited. Full of depth.

On the Jazz stage since the early 2000s, Quỳnh Phạm is known as a “storyteller” through music.

As the founder of Hanoi Blues Note, Quỳnh does more than sing. She builds a space where Jazz lives in a more intimate way, and where young artists can find an identity of their own.

From the album Rồi như đá ngây ngô to the Hãy Yêu Jazz Đi journey, it is a steady, committed choice to bring Jazz and the beauty of Vietnamese music closer to the community.

The origin of the project

When beautiful melodies need a new encounter.
When Jazz carries a spirit of freedom, openness and a zest for life.

“Hãy Yêu Jazz Đi” — Let’s Love Jazz — is a community initiative by Hanoi Blues Note that spreads the love of Jazz in the most approachable way: by renewing timeless Vietnamese songs of great artistic value.

There are songs that have lived alongside generations of Vietnamese people.
There are Jazz melodies that carry a spirit of freedom, openness and a zest for life.

“Hãy Yêu Jazz Đi” was born from the wish to create an encounter between these two streams — where timeless musical values are retold in a language closer to today’s audiences.

Beginning with renewed works by Trịnh Công Sơn, the project gradually expands to other songwriters and to Vietnam’s wider musical heritage, opening new dialogues between tradition and the contemporary, between young artists and audiences of every age.

The project is planned to run continuously over three years, in several phases.
Hanoi Blues Note has no ambition to change musical heritage or to solve the “generation gap” in music.
We simply hope to add one more note to contemporary cultural life — with a Jazz full of inspiration.

Jazz & Trịnh

Ambassador of Trịnh's Memory

Singer Trịnh Vĩnh Trinh

Companion and spiritual advisor to the project, keeper of precious memories of Trịnh Công Sơn.

With the Ambassador by our side, Trịnh’s musical story — even when retold through the fresh eyes of today’s young generation — keeps whole the spirit of love, compassion and freedom the composer left behind.

Representing the family and loved ones of the late composer, the Ambassador, singer Trịnh Vĩnh Trinh, is the bridge between memory and the present, between heritage and today’s creations.

Music should speak for itself.

In the open-air community music space by the Perfume River at “Chiều trên quê hương tôi”, Quỳnh Phạm — representing “Hãy Yêu Jazz Đi” — brought a fresh breeze. Alongside veteran names long tied to classic Trịnh melodies, they breathed young, improvised Jazz colours into the songs, creating a striking and fresh artistic crossover.

A night of quiet surprises, as the beauty of the lyrics and the sorrow of the human condition are sung in many languages, like different winds passing through a single soul.
